Fedrigoni 365 — 2019
A collaborative piece for paper specialists Fedrigoni UK — we were invited again this year to participate in the Fedrigoni 365 calendar, our allocated date being May 14th.
Fedrigoni invited 365 designers, illustrators and photographers from the UK to contribute a piece interpreting a randomly allocated date. Together, the submissions form the 2019 edition of Fedrigoni’s annual calendar, which this year features 10 white papers from the specialist’s expansive collection — a mix of hues and textures, and a vast range of designs, all brought together by the single-colour print in a gunmetal shade. Fedrigoni said “The resulting white tome is part numeral muse, part source of historic facts and part thing of beauty.”
Our design for May 14th is based on the number 14 being the atomic number of silicon (also in Group 14 of the periodic table). The illustration is a graphic representation of a ‘unit cell’ of the element, showing the diamond cubic structure that Group 14 elements adopt when they solidify. A simple geometric solution to reflect the restrictions of the print production.
The calendar is now available to purchase from Counter Print, with profits going to Shelter. Book design and photography by TM Studio
